Installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview
0If you are like me, you tend to want to try out the latest and greatest software, devices, and the like. None is greater than the Windows 8 Consumer preview – getting a glimpse at what will be coming in the next version of Windows – so you can plan your gadget plan accordingly. A lot of improvements have been made since the Developer preview was released back in September – 2011. Here’s the blog link where Steven Sinofsky outlines the preview.
Onto the consumer preview. If you haven’t already downloaded your copy it, do so by going here –> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/download. While it’s downloading, read up on Windows 8 Consumer preview here –> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/consumer-preview
Once downloaded, it really depends on how you want to install it. I used VMWare Workstation to get going so as not to cripple by productivity. If you have a spare machine around, you could do a fresh install, or if you use VirtualBox (another virtualization software that is free) you could create a new VM and get going easily.
Steps for VMWorkstation are pretty easy. Create a new VM with a blank HD (I used 60GB) and attach the ISO. One thing to note is remove the floppy disk in the settings of the VM.
If you are asked for a key, use –>DNJXJ-7XBW8-2378T-X22TX-BKG7J
After the usual install and config, you’ll be asked to login. Take a look around the new metro style windows and apps. A sign of things to come!!

Guns’N'Roses
0What will most likley be the last live band I’ll see in Seattle, we checked out GNR with our good friends ST and their son for his birhtday. Oddly enough, we’ve celebrated the last 3 birthdays with him – Pearl Jam, Metallica, and I am too old to remeber the third.
What a great show… I had forgotten the amount of top ten hits they had and they managed to sprinkle in some good covers too including Live and Let Die and Knocking on Heaven’s Door (of course), Floyd the Wall, ACDC, to name a few. Axl and co played over 3 hours which was awesome, though completely unexpected, and didn’t fixate on the new album only. I will definitely miss Seattlefor live bands. Pics below, and vide of Axl getting his groove on. Oh, and if anyone can explain to me what Axl does when he goes into his back room and then emerges 5-8 seconds later I’d be interested in knowing. If they are hitting your city, don’t want to miss it.

yet another blog site
0<Sigh> Well, it seems I am re-launching my blog site AGAIN. Not really anyone’s fault, which means it is very much my fault. This will be my third incarnation of the blog site in a time where 140 characters is really all you need to know about what someone is doing and thinking. But like before, I’ll use it for my benefit not necessarily yours, but if you see something you like, please comment away. I am in the process of recreating the site so you’ll see things here and there, which also means things will disappear too. Right now, this will be my “hello world” post. So, hello!
